trade_alley Progress

Hey Folks,

 

This post serves to show my progress on the next version of trade_alley.

Update: As of January 2015, Ryuke has taken over development of trade_alley, as I no longer have the time.

 

Stable: Release Candidate 3 (trade_alley_RC3)

Active Development: Release Candidate 4 (trade_alley_RC4)

 

Planned additions to: Release Candidate 4 (trade_alley_RC4):

-3D Skybox

-HARD optimization to improve framerates

-Possible new area(s)

-Moving vehicles in the street

-Gate that can open and close to the soccer field to prevent griefing during events

 

Previous Revisions:

Release Candidate 2 (trade_alley_RC2) - Lighting, Detailing, Minor Optimization

 

Release Candidate 1 (trade_alley_RC1) - Lighting, Detailing, Interiors for Diner & Theater, Minor Optimization

 

Beta 1-9 (trade_alley_B9) - Lighting, Detailing, Beginning Optimization, "God Mode" Function in the Lounge with help from Cath, Abortion Clinic changed to Fight Club, Added Balcony to the Lounge, Addition of the Street & Business Exteriors

 

Alpha 1-6/Beta 1-8 (trade_alley_b8) - Lighting, Detailing, Spawn Constructed, Alley Constructed, Lounge Constructed

Progress on the next revision has started.

 

-Turned (optimized) a ton of brushes into details (this was a long time coming, and should greatly improve performance)

-Widened the path to the soccer field in prep for doors

-Began remodeling the car tunnels, they will now be custom made by me, rather than Valve props

-Improved player clip around the spawn exit "hut"

-Made the wall in spawn 2 brushes instead of one, hopefully will prevent baseballs coming through the wall

-Fixed the toilets in the Pool showers, they should no longer break on contact

-First attempt to get the "spinny thing" in the playground to spin correctly

I can see it now; heavy-medic combos holding hands while they cross the street, cheering scouts waiting in line for the latest soccer match, OfficerSweetBoy drowning his sorrows at Club Collapse, all illuminated under a beautifully-rendered night sky.

Continued progress:

 

-Added "working" mirrors in all the bathrooms

-More work on new car tunnels

-Fixed leaks that I created whilst optimizing

I know for a fact that the lighting is fine,my brightness isn't even at 100% and NOWHERE in the map is it pitch black other than the boxing ring which is supposed to be so. and as for doorways,its just you all of us had to learn how to traverse them correctly.i suggest more practise.

Okay, Okay. I've mentioned this a thousand times on the server. WE NEED A JAIL, a place for all the naughty boys and girls to go when they misbehave. I say you put it on that big wall behind the soccer field. But I will be satisfied anywhere else!
